A high-end crankshaft for the Vespa GS 160 / SS 180 models. These items represent the highest quality of components, facilitating an engine with maximum reliability and minimum vibrations.
Together with the cylinder and piston, the crankshaft is the beating heart of any internal combustion engine. Between the hardest working components and the conversion of the piston stroke into a rotary movement places the highest demands on both quality and attention during construction. The crankshaft should also be well balanced to reduce any unwanted vibrations and the oscillating mass kept to a minimum to support efficient delivery of the power created by the engine. The large head bearing rotates at the same speed as the RPM engines, receives lubrication from the gasoline / two-stroke diesel mixture, and must withstand two abrupt changes in piston direction for each revolution of the engine. The crank pin, connecting both crankshaft legs with the connecting rod, must be pressed into the cores with some distance from the openings in the cores. If this connection is not strong enough, the crankshaft can turn and the crankshaft plies become misaligned and seize. To ensure that the large end bearing receives sufficient lubrication, the large end of the connecting rod should be provided with slots to facilitate this.
SIP crankshafts.
This brand new range of performance crankshafts is produced for SIP in Italy and meets all the requirements listed above. We have focused our efforts to provide the highest quality combined with proven technological features. Each crankshaft is specifically balanced to suit the stroke, connecting rod length and scooter model for which it is intended.
The crankshafts available in this range can be divided into two main types. The "Premium" models feature a high-end "standard" type of connecting rod, which means that its surface finish remains unaltered. Equipped with grooves and lubrication holes, respectively for large and small bearings.
The "Performance" crankshaft models include a very high quality connecting rod and are made more durable with an intensive polishing procedure that provides a more stable molecular structure. The smooth, smooth sidewalls of the connecting rod also help reduce turbulence. The polished connecting rods have also been optimized with a weight reduction. They have a gas flow profile and have been modified around the large end to improve bearing lubrication and cooling.
The crankshafts for the Vespa GS 160 / SS 180 models.
GS 160 / SS 180 crankshaft. We now have very high quality crankshafts available to replace the originals in the Vespa GS 160 / SS 180 models. The range includes the upgrade of crankshafts compatible with the GS 160 models of the I series and II. The "Premium" version features a very high quality connecting rod and the "Performance" connecting rod is highly polished with a narrow profile.
