Description
Polini studies a new lamellar engine crankcase to house 3 or 4 stud cylinders.Big news in the house Polini, which adds the lamellar engine casing to its already rich catalogue Polini For Race for Piaggio Ciao and Si.
As per DNA Polini, the study and production comes with the aim of increasing performance, especially when speaking of lamellar motors, born with limitations given by the original housing.
The intake of the Ciao is very limited and only carburettors with a maximum diameter of 15 can be fitted: with the new reed valve crankcase Polini For Race it is possible to mount carburettors up to 21 with an adequate flow which allows for better performance, with greater grit to the engine.
It is a crankcase made of die-cast aluminium, designed for assembly on Piaggio Si and Ciao. Both models require the removal of the pedals. If no modification to the motor housing is required on the Si, on the Ciao it is necessary to slightly widen the original opening in the frame.
The new reed motor crankcase Polini For Race for Piaggio Ciao and Si allows you to house both 3 and 4 stud cylinders, but Polini recommends the use of cylinders with 4 studs.
It is possible to mount the new crankcase with the original electronic ignition, but the advice is to use that Polini and full-shouldered crankshafts.
The reed valve has 4 petals and is made of carbon, while the manifold is made of rubber and fits both carburettors Polini CP or Dellorto PHBG.
