1983: the 68,5 aluminum cylinder is born, a turning point in the development of the Vespa.
In Nicasil aluminum, with super light piston, 1.2 mm semi-trapezoidal bands, the new cylinder immediately becomes a legend, a real must for all enthusiasts.

The MHR version differs from the SPORT, as well as in the exhaust port, also in the decidedly racing transfer diagrams.
The perfect centering between head and cylinder is guaranteed by two centering bushings placed on two studs, while the ooring ensures a perfect seal.
2016: completing the long list of updates comes the new piston with a black coat, the result of a molybdenum sulphide treatment. The semi-trapezoidal segmentation and the crown remain unchanged, while the real innovation is in the totally new mold, in which the new slots allow not only a perfect connection with the latest generation of the cylinder, but also interchangeability with its previous versions. . The completely revised ribbing ensures a lightweight design and even greater strength.
Attention: it is absolutely essential to use fuel taps with increased capacity.
TECHNICAL FEATURES ALUMINUM CYLINDER Cylinders obtained by gravity casting in specific steel shells. Material: primary aluminum alloy with a high content of tempered and stabilized silicon. Processing: on high precision numerically controlled machine tools. Barrel with silicon carbide coating in a galvanic nickel matrix and crossed smoothing with diamond passages with very tight tolerances. Recalculated and increased heat exchange surfaces. Exhaust and transfer ports designed and tested for maximum thermodynamic performance. Dimensional checks of shape and roughness according to Malossi standards. Coupling piston cylinder selections of 0,005 mm. Control of the hydraulic seals carried out at 100%.
