SIP performance shock absorbers for all Vespa models with a separate spring and damper suspensions. Aluminum, CNC machined, anodized



Almost all shock absorbers currently available for Vespa models with a separate spring and damper suspension have no effective damping function, mainly due to their technical configuration. Also shock absorbers with adjustable; Compression damping, provide a noticeably stiffer suspension, even if the expanding spring is not damped or slowed. This brings the damper expanding rapidly, sending a jolt through the handlebar.



A major goal in SIP performance shock absorber design was to provide optimal damping during the rebound phase. Rebound damping ensures a clean and even shock expansion absorber at a controllable speed. This causes, for example when braking, the front end of the scooter to recover smoothly and remain controllable without acting like a pogo stick!



These shocks are available with two distinct types of stiffness: 60 PSI and 100 PSI. The stiffer the damper the higher the PSI score (the faster the rebound). Another important factor is the choice of spring. Springs with at least a 33% increase in stiffness or STO springs are recommended.



Assembly Instructions: When the spring is too weak the shocker packs up creating an ineffective angle on the rear suspension link. A stiffer spring is required (see figure)



When converting from 8 to 10 wheels the following should be considered: The mounting point on the steering column shock absorber is located considerably lower, as, for example, on a standard 10 steering column. Also, the fender tends to be under dimensioned for a 10 wheel. This makes contact between the two inevitable during braking, no matter what spring or shock combination is employed.
