The Vespa "old PX" crankshaft, also built in the Sprint, Rally and other models, has a collar on the wheel side, which means there is no break for the cross grip for power transmission. Slipping gears is often a problem if the drive lever is in poor condition or has seen better days allowing the cruciform to slip.



PX Lusso crankshafts built from '83 on up have 2 circlips and 2 shoulder rings instead of a collar. There are small niches in the cross slide groove: the cross locks in gear to the power transmission making this the no. 1 choice for tuned engines. If you are looking for a new transmission for a tuned engine, the Lusso transmission is the only one.
