Description

Cylinder head gasket (thickness): 0,8mm, MALOSSI 210cc /POLINI 208cc for Vespa 200 Rally / P200E / PX200 E / Lusso / `98 / MY / Cosa 200 aluminum, 69 mm

Thick base and head gaskets / spacers are required for highly positioned cylinders and cylinders that have a longer stroke. When using a long stroke crankshaft, the additional half stroke length must be compensated for by a head and / or base gasket. With compensation from a base seal, the exit times extend and the transfer times are significantly longer. If the socket is even slightly raised by milling, the engine can be optimized for higher revs. Compensating with a butt gasket prolongs the exit and transfer times only slightly, with the transfer time changing more than the exit time (= less blow down). This represents the optimization for more torque at mediocre rpm.

If you install a 60mm instead of a 57mm crankshaft on a 210cc MALOSSI, the stroke of three additional millimeters must be leveled by a 1,5 mm gasket. The following then applies:

Compensation 1,5mm, base: Wide rpm range and high HP, but limited torque and performance that is delayed and only one shot occurs.

1,5mm offset, head: Extreme torque and the risk of wheelies in the lower ranges lower revs but top speed. On the 210cc, this combination is SIP preferred touring, even in combination with long drivetrains. The highest positioning of the 130cc POLINI in combination with a 54mm crankshaft it is also popular, awarded with power, durability and winning positions. With more than one connecting rod, the stroke does not change, but the cylinder must be raised accordingly by the difference in the connecting rod lengths. The base gaskets are available in 0.5mm - 10,0mm, the head gaskets are available in 0,5mm - 2,0mm. They are mostly aluminum.

Conclusion: Long stroke crankshaft tuning with different spacer combinations is the performance boosting trend of recent years. This is where the grain is separated from the chaff.
