Thermal group 63 in aluminum



The completely new thermal unit is born and designed in every part to obtain the best results in terms of performance and duration. Every aspect of the system has been studied to maximize mechanical resistance, fluid dynamics and improve combustion: the result is a top-of-the-range kit for construction quality and technological advancement.



Technical features

Cylinder

Made entirely from scratch, in high-strength aluminum alloy and barrel with nickel-chromium coating. Composed of a central core with constant thickness around the barrel and the transfer ports, it guarantees a constant heat exchange, therefore a temperature of inlet of the gases in the controlled chamber and an optimal heat exchange at the exhaust, has a cooling fins aerodynamically profiled around the core designed to be penetrated with the best possible efficiency by the cooling air. The major innovation is represented by the completely revised and updated decanting system, introducing the CVF according to the latest updates obtained thanks to the experience gained from competitions. The ports have now been increased to 7, a distinctive feature of the kits Malossi, thanks to which it was possible to obtain the best fluid dynamic performance.
The connection to the muffler is made possible by a flange-fitting assembly fixed to the cylinder by means of 4 cylindrical head screws and a sealing Oring to the exhaust duct inserted to avoid any leakage from the thermal unit. With this extremely simple assembly system, it is possible to house all types of mufflers on the market with 37 inlet with maximum resistance avoiding any unscrewing or rotation problems due to vehicle vibrations.
The connection with the head, on the other hand, is now achieved by means of high-precision centering on the support surfaces obtained with numerically controlled machines. A set of multi-thickness base gaskets is provided to allow the user to adjust the compression adapting it to the most varied uses.



Piston

Cast with an innovative material, consisting of a steel core coated with an aluminum and silicon alloy, which gives extreme lightness as well as excellent resistance to corrosion, even at high temperatures and a reflection of the heat derived from combustion, the heat flow is then directed towards the dissipation surfaces, favoring the cooling of the combustion chamber and its maintenance within the optimal temperature range. In the inner part of the shell it has ribs immersed in the fusion with which the right strengthening in the most mechanically stressed areas was obtained, while allowing maximum lightening of the piston. The windows at the rear and the diametrical grooves, on the other hand, guarantee the maximum possible flow of fresh charge towards the cylinder ports.



Head

Another revolution in the construction philosophy of 2-stroke engines: the cooling fins have been sized to optimize the heat flow from the chamber to the outside but are now also profiled according to modern simulations to allow the maximum possible penetration of the air coming from the system cooling system, which now touches the head with an increase in efficiency of over 10% compared to a traditional system with straight fins.
The characteristic hemispherical profile combustion chamber is machined with tolerances to the tenth of a millimeter and develops a high turbulence combustion, with pressure peaks calculated at the most suitable regimes to obtain the maximum performance in terms of torque and power, the very high temperatures that are reached in this particular border area between the head and the cylinder which are often the origin of hot spots and detonations are regulated thanks to an aerospace mold solution: a depression chamber duct made with two bulkheads and a series of deflectors at the inlet and Exit. Which convey, thanks also to a precise surface profile, a part of the cooling air forcing it not only to touch the surfaces but also to expand, decreasing, thanks to a precise physical principle, the pressure and therefore the temperature of the walls bordering the chamber of bursting.
