The PIAGGIO thrust plate of the XL2 PK clutch includes a ball bearing mechanism. This allows for a much larger rev-range and works almost frictionless. Unintentional welding of brass the torsion bar and thrust plate is therefore almost impossible, friction is minimized and the jerky clutch operation can be prevented. This thrust plate is required for all XL2 PK clutch conversions.

The thrust plate is also available in the SIP version produced, for all other Vespa. The bearing is placed on the original thrust plate.
